Office Blues

I have come to realize that I am NOT an office person. Some offices are okay but for the most part, spending an entire day inside the four walls of an office building is not for me. I feel like I'm missing the world. Like things are happening and I am missing all of it. Life happens outside and being inside is a drag to me. If the only view is the 8 foot window behind me, I will not be a happy worker. Just like my view, I feel like my imagination, thoughts, and air is being blocked! Okay, maybe not my air as much, but definitely my thoughts and imagination. I mean Don't get me wrong, I do have the ability to work indoors, but I would rather be walking around and interacting a little rather than sitting in an office & staring at a computer screen. I give it up to people that have it in them to do it, you are a trooper!

I'm sitting here debating on going back to the mountains to work or sellout & do something in the city. I'm actually going to apply to an internship to go to Pennsylvania and work with wild animals. I hope I get it. That is my dream job. Now that I think of it, I am going to start working on my application right now. It's not due for a few more months, but there's no harm in starting early. After all, The picture below use to be my office & the classroom I use to teach in. I see no reason for me to give that up!

Concerts Galore

Today I will be attending the Jill Scott/Maxwell concert and I am really excited about it! This past weekend I went to the UCLA Jazz/Reggae Fest and it was AMAZING! I truly enjoyed myself. There is nothing like great live music. Raphael Saadiq, Q-Tip, Nas & Damien Marley, Barrington Levy, and many many more! I had a great time. If you were not in attendance, I hate to tell you but, YOU MISSED OUT! Make sure you make it out next year! This was one festival that was for the people. The food was not expensive, they had free water bottle refills, everything was for the crowd. For once, this was an event where I did not feel like those who prepared it only wanted to make a dollar off me. Great job UCLA!

Nas & Damien Marley have a CD out called Distant Relatives. They performed a lot of songs from that album at the Reggae Fest. I suggest everyone get this album! The songs are great. It is the perfect mixture of reggae music and rap. (Even though I don't really care for rap music) This album is actually talking about relevant issues. Lets face it, a cd with both Nas & Damien Marley together sounds sketchy at first but it really is a remarkable album. You can always google it and check out some of the songs but I really like it a lot. They had to put their own money behind it because record labels wouldn't sign them & I don't think the radio plays it either. But of course record labels and the radio don't want to support anything that's actually worth listening to. But lets save that for another blog at another time!

John Mayer is coming back to Los Angeles! I missed his concert a few months ago so as soon as I am able, I will purchase a ticket! Like I said before, I LOVE his music! Despite the stuff he said, which I really don't care about, you can't deny the fact that the man makes extraordinary music! Who cares if he won't sleep with a black woman hahahaha I know I don't!

Moral of this blog is...go to concerts! They are awesome and worth it!
